His racing hopes ended, but he got the respect and care that equine athletes deserve at Old Friends.
Jerry and Ann Moss purchased the beautifully bred Cherono at the Keeneland September Yearling Sales for a pretty penny, but high hopes were dashed when after only three starts he injured a leg and was no longer able to race.
Though the $1,280 he had earned on the track made him a financial liability, Cherono’s exemplary owners, Jerry and Ann Moss, gave him the care he needed to recover, and provided for his safe and secure future.
These days a very slight limp is only scarcely noticeable in the fluidity of his sure, graceful strides.
He is much like his damsire, fellow Old Friends resident Ogygian, in pride as well as looks
