Rapid Redux is doing great. The chestnut gelding who won 22 races in a row..setting the North American record…comes in during the day and goes out at night. We’re very excited that David Wells, his trainer, is coming to visit Rapid at Old Friends. We’ll have an Open House for David and Rapid at 2 p.m. on Sunday, July 15 and we welcome all of his fans to celebrate his retirement…
The heat wave has resulted in crispy grass and hard ground but all the horses are doing very well under the circumstances. The waterers are all checked in a timely manner and Janet makes sure the retirees get electrolytes every day.
We’re working on new fundraising opportunities so we can provide more spots for more deserving Thoroughbreds. We’ll have a big announcement coming soon about our exciting partnership with Daily Racing Form.
Due to popular demand, Commentator will be summering with Mark and Joann at Old Friends at Cabin Creek during the Saratoga meet. Since Commentator owns the key to Saratoga Springs, he’s looking forward to seeing his old friends and making sure that the town remains committed to his impeccable standards.
Little Silver Charm continues to bedazzle some of our more gullible visitors with his “Aren’t I cute?” antics. Yesterday, he regaled a busload of visitors from Michigan by jumping over a couple of railroad ties and wondering why he wasn’t selected for the Olympics. He’s mistakenly convinced that Ann Romney used her considerable political influence to nudge him off the American team.
