We’re saddened by the passing of Elaborate. He was 30 years old. A graded stakes winner whose competitors included eventual Old Friends retirees Early Pioneer and Shadow Caster, he was retired to Old Friends in November 2014. He spent nearly all of his year with us at the main farm, but since he lived up the hill, off of the regular tour route, the only visitors who got the chance to meet him are those who took private tours or one of our special tours, so I reached out to our longtime volunteer and tour guide, Kurt, who knew Elaborate well and especially loved him.
