GEORGETOWN, KY. – April 24, 2026 – Old Friends, the Thoroughbred Retirement facility in Georgetown, Ky., will host its 21st Annual Homecoming on Sunday, May 3rd, 12:00 p.m. to 4 p.m.
The event features a live and silent auction of artwork, prints, and racing memorabilia. The live auction also includes several premiere collectible halters that are now open for absentee bidding.
For those unable to attend we will be taking proxy bids for the halters that will be in the Live Auction. Instructions are as explained below.
Bidding for Halters
Absentee bidding for the following halters to be auctioned off at Old Friends’ Homecoming opens Sunday, April 26th, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. (EST) and closes on May 1st at 12:00 p.m. (EST).
Each halter is accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity (unless otherwise noted).
To bid on a halter, email your name, address, phone number, and the halter(s) you are bidding on, along with your highest bid for each to horses@oldfriendsequine.org
Deadline for Bidding on Halters: The final deadline to bid on halters is Friday, May 1st, at 12 p.m. (EST).
Old Friends is extremely grateful to the Farms and private collectors who donated these halters to our auction.
On the block are halters worn by:
- Big Brown
- Blame
- City of Light
- Gun Runner
- I’ll Have Another
- Justify (minimum bid of $2,000)
- Lava Man
- Seize The Grey
- Silver Charm
Absentee bidding will also be taken on a framed photograph of the Kentucky Derby trophy signed by 32 Kentucky Derby-winning jockeys and 14 winning trainers. Bidding on the item will start at $2,500.
At the event, you will be assigned a Proxy and will start low and bid up to your highest number.
Bidding on Silent Auction Items
Silent Auction bidding will be available to everyone on Old Friends’ eBay store beginning Sunday, April 26th, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. (EST).
Important Note: All bidders, whether in attendance at the event on Sunday or not, must register, bid, and pay online if they win.

Winning bidders can pick up their items at checkout if attending the event in person after the item has been paid for online. If you will not be in attendance, your item will be shipped to you. If you are picking up your item in person, you must provide the 6-digit pick up code emailed to you by eBay.
Old Friends Homecoming Details
The 21st Annual Old Friends Homecoming will be held on Saturday, May 3, 2025, 12:00 p.m. to 4 p.m. The event will be highlighted by live music, a barbecue buffet, and farm tours where guests can meet the farm’s three Kentucky Derby champions Silver Charm, I’ll Have Another and Big Brown, along with other residents such as Lava Man, Little Brown, and more!
