POLLARD’S VISION

Carson City - Etats Unis, by Dixieland Band | 2001 Horse - (View Pedigree)

History:

Little, one-eyed Pollard’s Vision is huge on courage and accomplishments. Named by racing owner David Moore after Seabiscuit’s jockey, Red Pollard, who was also blind in the right eye, the colt raced for Edgewood Farm. He was trained by Todd Pletcher and ridden to stakes victories by John Velazquez, Jerry Bailey and Eibar Coa. At two Pollard’s Vision finished third in the Huntington Stakes. At three he won the 2004 Illinois Derby (G2) and Lone Star Derby (G3), as well as the Leonard Richards Stakes (G3) at Delaware Park. He also competed in the Kentucky Derby (won by Smarty Jones), and finished second in no less than three other Derbies, Ohio, West Virginia, and Pennsylvania. At four he won the National Jockey Club Handicap (G3). His track earnings total $1,430,311. He stood at Wintergreen Stallion Station in Kentucky where he was foaled, then Waldorf Farm in New York and Mighty Acres in Oklahoma. Pollard’s Vision sired Blind Luck, winner of the 2010 Kentucky Oaks and other G1 stakes and 2010 Eclipse Champion Three-Year-Old Filly.
