A half-brother to Grade 1 winner Medaglia D’Oro, Cappucino Kid raced to the age of 9. He won 10 of his 44 races and came in 2nd or 3rd in another 15, earning $248,951. Yet when his earning days over he awaited slaughter in a feed lot in Washington state. He was discovered by SOS Equines and, thanks to donor Linda Madsen of Maine, recuperated at The Lazy Spur Ranch in Washington, where he received the best of care. Fearful at first, Cappy responded to love and began to regain his confidence.
He came to Old Friends thanks to exercise rider and anti-slaughter advocate Alex Brown, who contacted us about him, and Stonewall Stallions (where his famed half-brother Medaglia D’Oro stands) which donated his transportation costs. Thanks to the responsible actions of all these caring folks, Cappy–now self-assured and a real character–has a permanent home at Old Friends, and we are delighted to have him!
