Big Brown Mini-Me Little Brown Arrives From Reinbow Miniature Horses

Georgetown, KY – February 25, 2026 – Old Friends, the Thoroughbred retirement farm in Georgetown, Ky. is pleased to announce the arrival of our newest ambassador, Big Brown’s mini-me Little Brown.

“We always have room in our hearts to love a new member of the Old Friends family, and we already love Little Brown,” said John Nicholson, President and CEO. “What a great guy and he will be a most special ambassador and spokeshorse for Old Friends. We can’t wait for the world to meet him! Big Brown definitely has a new friend, and he gives his enthusiastic endorsement to Little Brown.”

Arriving last week, Little Brown comes from Reinbow Miniature Horses where he was used in the farm’s camp program and birthday parties. The farm had gotten him from a rescue that needed to downsize and found that “Brownie” enjoys being the center of attention, so Old Friends was the perfect next home for him. Fittingly, Reinbow Miniature Horses’ owner Brenda also shares a last name with a famous former Old Friends resident – Awad.

“I am so honored to have Brownie chosen to be a member of Old Friends,” Brenda Awad said. “Brownie has always been a wonderful mini in our program, but from the day he arrived, he never seemed completely happy. I strive to always do what’s best for the horse and decided to move him on when the right fit presented itself. I knew Brownie would be the perfect fit at Old Friends, and he’d finally get the individual focus and attention he desired. From the moment he walked off the trailer, I knew he was home. Thank you Old Friends, I am over the moon happy!”

Walking off the horse van like he owned the place, Little Brown has already settled in well to his new home. He became fast friends with multiple Old Friends’ equine and human residents alike and is already going on adventures with Old Friends Founder Michael Blowen.

While he’ll never replace Little Silver Charm, he’s proven to be the perfect successor for the role.

“We’re not asking Little Brown to replace Little Silver Charm but to succeed him,” Blowen said. “We’re so grateful to Brenda for donating him. He’s already been in the house looking for treats… in his case, bananas!”
