On Monday, Memorial Day, we will have our annual tribute to the horses we lost in the last year: Academy Award, Bonnie’s Poker, Polish Navy, Glitterman, Jade Hunter and The Wicked North. We also lost Easy Ellis earlier this week. Many of you may not be as familiar with Easy who resided in the back gelding field with his pal, Kudos. He was raced by Paul Isaacs and won his share of nice allowance races. What made Easy so significant to Old Friends, aside from his affectionate personality, was that during his racing career, he donated a significant portion of his earnings to an Old Friends retirement account.
In Kentucky, we’ve had some bad weather but the fence and run-in sheds withstood it all.
