Bred by Stiftung Gestüt Fahrhof, turf competitor Wake Forest was rarely beaten in his native Germany and is a winner in France. At five years old he was imported to the United States and ran in the Arlington Million for owners Klaus Allofs and Gestüt Fahrhof with trainer Andreas Wohler. Purchased by Michael Dubb, Wake Forest went to trainer Chad Brown, from whose barn he won the Man o’ War Stakes (G1) at Belmont Park with John Velazquez up and finished in the top three in the United Nation Stakes (G1) at Monmouth as well as the Northern Dancer Turf Stakes (G1) and Pattison Canadian International Stakes (G1) at Woodbine, the Pan American Stakes (G2) at Gulfstream Park, and the Red Smith Handicap (G3) at Aqueduct. At seven he won the Mac Diarmida Stakes (G2) at Gulfstream with jockey Javier Castellano. At eight, Wake Forest raced for owner R. A. Hill Stable, trained by Danny Gargan. In all he earned $951,745 in 28 stars with 8 firsts, 3 seconds and 4 thirds. Reclaimed by Michael Dubb in November 2018, Wake Forest took up his well-earned retirement at Old Friends.
